These 40’ wood-sheathed reefers with flush doors and vertical brakewheels are owned by Union Refrigerator Transit Co. and leased to Land O’ Lakes Creameries, Inc. They are painted box car red with reefer yellow sides and fire red heralds. The lettering and hardware are black and end lettering is white. It was built in January 1927, also by American Car & Foundry, serviced in May 1934, and run on Bettendorf trucks. Unlike most other train cars used for butter transport, the Land ‘O Lakes Creamery Company of Minneapolis used their fleet of specially built refrigerated cars to ship only butter in their cars and not other products.
