Orders are pulled from our store stock, then processed and billed by our mail order department.
All orders are filled by date/time preference and can be limited to only one item available!
High-ticket item orders received during non-business hours are pulled for processing before opening the next business day.
Payment Methods:
We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express credit or debit cards, checks, money orders and bank drafts in U.S.
currency. Sorry, no C.O.D.'s. Customers' current phone numbers (home and work) with address must appear on all orders.
If you have an unlisted phone number, we will respect your privacy. We will call you only if it becomes absolutely necessary.
Prices:
Pricing, specifications, availability, and terms may change without notice.
The current Caboose Hobbies retail price is always posted. Sale and special pricing is also posted. We run our business in an honest and up-front manner. Caboose Hobbies customers are treated equally. Occasionally sale items will appear and will be so noted. Prices are not negotiable. We reserve the right to correct pricing errors. Manufacturers may change a price on an item when released and we will change our price accordingly, keeping the same discount structure on the new price.

IMAGES used on this web site May be of Prototype equipment or models by the Manufacturer of another scale to represent the paint scheme, Product description will have the correct road number etc.
Consigned Items (previously owned items):
Consigned items are noted with a BC, BR, or NBC at the beginning of our SKU/Product numbers.
Returns:
A refund or credit will be provided if the item is returned by the customer within thirty (30) days from the date of sale. A telephone call, fax, or e-mail to information@caboosehobbies.com explaining the circumstances causing the return is necessary in order to receive a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number.
(RMA) number. (Exception, see Consigned below) A RMA number is required on all returns, whether it be for refund, exchange or repair. This must also be done within the thirty (30) days from the date of sale. A copy of the sales invoice is required. A 10% restocking fee will be charged if a copy of the invoice is not included with the return.
Consigned model owners are paid 20 to 30 days after the date of sale. All consigned returned models must be received by us no later than 18 days after date of sale. Models returned without an RMA number may not be refundable.
"As-Is" items may be returned within 10 days, but the customer
must pay shipping both ways and be charged a $25.00 fee. Please purchase "As-Is" items with the understanding that the item may be damaged and in need of repair.
Non-factory electronics such as lights, sound, command control, etc, are not covered under Caboose Hobbies satisfaction guarantee policy for repair, but you may still return the model for refund or exchange.
Sorry, we cannot refund shipping expenses.
Errors: Errors can happen, Caboose Hobbies is under no obligation to honor any listing or image found to be an error.
Pre-Order Reservations & Special Orders
1. Pre Order Sale Prices expire thirty days after new announcements!
We will accept Pre-Orders up and until product becomes available, but it is
best to Pre-Order Early as we cannot guarantee reservations due to limited
product availability! (Our Suppliers seem to run out of new announced product
30 days after some new announcements)
2. When you place your order, please provide current credit card number, including
expiration date, for processing when the product arrives, include shipping
instructions. If credit card information is not available, a payment in full
is required at the time the order is placed!
3 . This is considered a confirmed order at these low prices and no previous
contact is available when the product arrives, it is billed and shipped or
held for in-store pickup! (in store customers - if you want to see the product
first, you must take your chances on shelf stock and there is no notification
available on this)
4 . Brass being reserved require a 10% non refundable deposit with order (if
we cannot supply the deposit is refunded).
5 . Prices are subject to change by the Manufacturers. If prices are not known
you will see TBA and our normal price structure will be applied!
Early Buy Special Discounted Products:
The same deposit and billing structure as mentioned in Reservations
& Special Orders above applies here. Please note: some items may take
up to three years to be released. Caboose Hobbies is not responsible for delays
on the part of the manufacturer.
BACK ORDERS:
Items not in stock are normally only back ordered at a customer's request.
Hold Policy:
Local customers (within 100 miles of the store): Models may be held for 3 days.
Non-local customers living within the 50 Fifty United States: Items may be held a maximum of 5 days.
For all other customers outside of the mainland United States: Items may be held a maximum of 7 days. Holds may not be extended beyond specified days. Please provide a fax number or phone number and credit card number with the expiration date unless special arrangements have been made.
New Hold Policy For Brass Models:
If a specific customer wishes to consider a purchase, a model may be put on hold until 5:00 pm the following day (4:30 pm on Saturdays and 4:00 pm on Sundays).
If a purchase is commitment is firm and payment is pending, the specific customer has the following amount of time to have the payment to Caboose Hobbies:
Local (100 mile radius): 3 days.
Within the USA: 5 days.
International: 7 days.
If payment has not been received within the specified time limit, the model
will be released from hold and available for sale to any customer.
Sales Tax:
Colorado residents will be charged the appropriate sales tax.
For orders shipped outside of Colorado or the USA, it is the buyer's responsibility to pay
their local sales tax and import fees, if any!
Damaged Models:
In the event a customer receives a model that was damaged in shipment by
UPS, please follow the following procedures:
1.) Notify Caboose and the UPS shipping receiver office.
2.) Make sure you have the UPS shipper number.
3.) Retain all shipping materials (carton, packing materials, etc.)
UPS will notify Caboose Hobbies to issue a call tag at our (shipper) end.
UPS will then pick up the shipping materials, the damaged model and the box from your address. This institutes the claim settlement. We will ensure that all corrective action is performed as quickly as possible.
Brass:
Brass Sales are satisfaction guaranteed.
Purchase Trades:
Caboose Hobbies may buy your used brass models. Please contact the Brass Department for further information: 303-777-6766.
Market Value Quotations:
Model price quotations via telephone, mail or fax for purposes of consignment, purchase or trade are a best effort "ballpark" estimate only. Accurate and firm pricing can only be established once Caboose Hobbies has the items in hand. There is a charge to appraise merchandise that we do not take into our consignment program.

Terms:
The customer may set the selling price and our staff will review and advise. If you prefer, our staff can advise on current market value and await your approval.
Our advice regarding pricing is based on:
1.) Sales of the same or similar items in recent months.
2.) The status of similar items in our current inventory.
3.) Supply and demand.
4.) A consensus on opinion from our brass department staff members.
All pricing dollar amounts and related discussions are based on RETAIL SELLING PRICE. The
Brass consignment fee is 20% of the retail selling price. The consignor's share is
80% of the retail selling price and is paid automatically by check which is mailed 20 to 30 days after the sale. At the consignor's request, payment can also be transferred to a store credit account for future use.
Items must be consigned with us for a minimum of 90 days. The consignment fee of
20% of the selling price will be charged to the consignor when an item is requested to be returned prior to the expiration of the 90 day limit. After the selling price agreement has been reached, prices are not increased. Upon a request by the consignor, prices may be reduced during the consignment period. They may be reduced at 10% of the original consigned selling price, or $25.00 per change, whichever is greater.
Brass items are advertised on our World Wide Web site. Advertising, transportation charges to the purchaser and charge card fees are free to the consignor.
We request that consignors describe any modifications or changes that may have been made to models being consigned. Non-factory electronics such as lights, sound, command control, etc., are not covered under the Caboose Hobbies satisfaction guarantee policy for repair, but the purchaser may still return the model for refund or exchange, within 10 days of purchase.
Foreign:
Foreign consignors sending models are responsible for any applicable United States customs duty or any duties in their own country. If duty fees are imposed on consigned items, we may request immediate reimbursement upon receipt of the consigned items.
Policies:
Brass models must have a minimum retail sales value of $100.00 per item. Miscellaneous items may NOT be grouped to meet this minimum. All items consigned to us are examined by our staff members upon receipt. Minimal problems will be handled at no charge to the consignor.
Major problems will be handled as follows:
Caboose Hobbies reserves the right to refuse items that meet any of the following criteria:
1.) Models that are in poor condition or have several missing parts. These may be returned to the owner or sold as is...
2.) Items that are currently available on the retail market. These may be returned to the
owner COD, depending on the retail strategy.
3.) If the consignor sets prices that are unrealistically high, Caboose Hobbies reserves the right to return these items to the consignor, transportation charges collect, if a realistic compromise agreement on pricing cannot be reached.
For items unsold after 90 days, we reserve the right to review pricing strategy with the consignor, recommend price adjustments and/or return the items to the owner. Consignment prices are set by the owner/consignor, and in many cases, they may not always represent our assessment of current fair market value. Our staff will always do their best to accurately describe the model and its pricing (if exceptional conditions warrant), in order to avoid customer confusion and inconvenience.
Note that market value on some rare, limited production items can vary greatly as supply and demand changes.
Repairs: Some models may require repairs to make them marketable under the Caboose Hobbies satisfaction guaranteed promise (standard). Simple repairs requiring only fifteen to twenty minutes and no disassembly (eg. wheel cleaning, part reattachment, etc) will be done at no charge.
All other repairs are considered chargeable at time of completion of the repair. Our current rates are $30.00 per hour or $40.00 per hour for machine work, plus any required parts.
After receipt of the models in a consignment lot, and our test running and assessment of these models, any required repairs and an estimate of each will be determined. This information will be provided to you when you are contacted by Caboose Hobbies to finalize selling prices. At this time you may authorize the chargeable repairs and arrange a payment method (credit card is preferred), or choose to forego the repairs and either sell the model as is at a reduced price commensurate with the needed repairs, or, have the model(s) returned to
you COD. Prior settlement of authorized repair charges is necessary to complete the consignment process.
We are sorry, but it is no longer feasible to charge repairs against future consignment sales.
Non-Brass Consignments:
At this time, depending on available space in our showroom, Caboose Hobbies is also accepting certain non-brass items for consignment sales. All items must have a minimum retail
sales value of $300.00 unless otherwise noted, and may not be grouped to meet this minimum.
The consignment fee is 30%.
